Butte Declares City Wide Purge to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day as a Community

After having to cancel their famous St. Patrick's Day Parade two years in a row the residents of Butte came up with their own idea, a city wide purge. The Purge began at 7am on March 17th and will end at 7am March 18th. During the 24 hour period all crime is legal within city limits.

"It doesn't feel like Butte without St. Patrick Day festivities, and so we had the idea to make all crime legal for 24 hours! That way we could have our own parade, drink with friends on the street and destroy property in drunken sports. You know St. Patrick's Day activities!" Paddy Drunkenness, the head of the Butte PTA commented during the festivities announcement.
"We support the idea one hundred percent! In reality we'll see less property damage, injuries and general chaos from the purge than we would see from our usual St. Patrick's Day festivities," stated Chief of Police Marty McDonnellSeamus commented to the press as he shot a roman candle at a random passerby.

"I'm just going to use the purge to socialize with my friends without our masks on, maybe pound a few cold ones," says Shaun O'Carrolraffety, a local Butte resident. "I'm planning on getting pissed drunk and riding a shopping cart down the hill through downtown!" Commented Shaun's son Liam, a fifth grader at East Middle School.

Plenty of Butte's holiday festivities and entertainment will be provided by local residents. A small parade will take place on the highway by local high schoolers at noon, and at 3pm the O'Doyle family will be hosting a friendly drinking competition featuring green beer. At 8pm a local bar will host a "Find the Leprechaun" challenge where patrons are sent looking across town for a little person with red hair to bring back to the bar. Children with red hair are advised to not get into strangers' vehicles unless they promise to pay for their bar tab.
